£10 to park at Walsgrave Hospital – A Disgrace!

Cllr Russell Field with Nick Solman and Brian Patton disgraced at the charges.

£10 for 6 hours!

Liberal Democrats in Coventry have condemned the fact that visitors to Walsgrave Hospital are expected to pay £10 if they park for six hours, and £2.70 even if they stop for just five minutes.

At a recent Ward Forum, the chair of the Hospital Trust, Labour Councillor Phil Townsend, defended the charges despite residents' objections.

Lib Dem Councillor Russell Field said,

“The charges being made by the hospital are too high. You can park in the city centre from as little as £2 per day.

“In Scotland all hospital parking fees have been abolished. Why can’t the same be done in England? It’s obscene that the trust are making people pay to visit their sick or dying relatives”.
