The purpose of the Policy Forum is to provide informed discussion led by specialist speakers in an atmosphere of relaxed debate and sharing of ideas. It meets every six weeks or so, with the topic of the evening led by an informed speaker, who may or may not be a party member or supporter. Topics vary from International Relations to Domestic Policy, and every effort is made to ensure there is a balance of subjects led by persons with an established expertise.
Past Speakers have included:
A Cancer Awareness Campaigner - sadly since deceased.
A local Headmaster.
A local Police Chief.
A Methodist Minister.
A Race Relations Academic from Warwick University.
An Immigration Lawyer.
John Hemmings MP (Liberal Democrat).
Liz Lynne MEP (Liberal Democrat)
Plus many others of high standing...
In November 2008 a debate took place on the place of Faith Schools in British Society, with representatives of the National Secular Society and a senior Roman Catholic priest - each presenting their respective cases against and for.
