Save Our Greenbelt

The beautiful greenfields - under threat of development.

Only the Liberal Democrats have a clear and coherant opposition to the GreenBelt developments.

The beautiful greenfields of Keresley are under threat by proposals to build an ‘Eco Suburb’ of 3,500 houses. The plan has been drawn up by Coventry City Council in response to the Government’s Regional Spatial Strategy, which wants to build 400,000 new houses in the West Midlands.

Housing Minister John Healey recently suggested Coventry had even signed up for an ‘Eco Town’ of 5,000 houses, which would destroy even more green land.

There is still some confusion over this issue, with the Conservative Council blaming the Labour Government and visa versa, but whoever is to blame, if the plans go ahead the green lands of Keresley will be changed forever.

Save Our Greenbelt campaigngers and the Liberal Democrats in Coventry have drawn up a petition calling on the Council to change their policy and just propose 22,000 new houses in Coventry - all on brownfield sites. If you agree with this, please sign the petition. Get your friends, family and neighbours to do the same and return it to the address given. Together we can hopefully save the remaining green spaces in Coventry.

Thank you for your support
